Does he love me or her?

I have a guy friend. He has been behaving a little odd recently. My other friend who is a female is his friend also. We have all 3 known each other for 8 years. We are 18. My girl friend is the kind of girl who drinks, is a bit superficial, smokes, etc. but I like her nevertheless. I have never been drunk, I don't use any make-up, I'm never mean to anybody etc. Our guy friend represents the same values as me, but when I'm really worried about the drinking of my friend, he just goes with it and doesn't do anything. He talks and laughs with her openly, but is very shy with me. Yesterday my girl friend ditched me for going on a trip with our guy friend. He accepted. I told him I don't want to watch our girl friend's behavior and he said to me: no. You deserve better friends. You are real and stay like that. Is that a compliment? Why does he behave like this: ignoring me, but being around our friend like normal? I love him in a platonic way.
