Just bought a Lenovo laptop. Was it a smart buy?

Yes, that is a good buy. Lenovo is currently the top manufacturer of laptops in terms of reliability/durability and customer service. Their T series especially is known to be one of Lenovo's best. The system specs you listed also make for a damn powerful machine. You've got a high dual CPU clock speed for optimal multitasking and running demanding programs, a fast harddrive running at 7200rpm (many laptops are still being sold with harddrives running at 5400rpm) just to name two aspects that stood out at me for the price you paid for it.
