Why is your dog an "Outside" dog?

I was raised that dogs belong outside. We always had large dogs and in a small house with 4 kids there was no room for a dog and my mom had no time to house break one either. The dogs were well taken care of and had shelter, food, water and planty or romping room. My husband and I have 2 medium indoor/outdoor dogs now. They are able to be in the house but they love being out when it is nice out. They stay out a lot of the day (while we are home only) but if they want in they just let us know. My mom also has a smaller indoor dog now that the kids are grown and she has more time.
